Workforce development skills training in sustainable energy solutions
Start your career in sustainable energy solutions.
This course introduces participants to conventional energy systems, conversion technologies and new sustainable, renewable energy options. The program encourages critical thinking about the interaction of energy, environment and society and the development of energy resources, energy demand, and it’s impact on climate change and our natural environment. Youth will gain not only theory but hands-on experience with testing and installing solar panels, analyzing old buildings and designing retrofitting plans to mitigate energy loss and improve efficiency.
Who
Youth aged 15-30 facing barriers to education and employment with upward mobility. Must be eligible to work in Canada, current students are not eligible.
What
Residential, paid work experience and skills training in in theory and practice of new sustainable energy production and updating traditional modes.
Where
Renewable Energy Skills training is available at our Perth Andover, New Brunswick Campus and our Durham, Ontario Campus.
When
Programs run for 6 weeks at a time on a rolling basis throughout the year.

THE DETAILS
Eligibility
– Legally able to work in Canada
– Not currently enrolled in high school or post secondary education
– Between the ages of 15 and 30
Ideal candidates
The ideal candidate for this program is an individual with a passion to learn and grow but faces barriers (social, geographic, mental, physical, economic, etc.) to achieving their goals.
Time commitment
30 hours of training or working time per week for 6-8 weeks.
Requirements
Youth participants must complete WHIMIS for all programs and an online food handling course for culinary arts, prior to gaining access to the program. All costs will be covered by Elephant Thoughts.
